Kbox conducted a film workshop for young aspiring film makers and film enthusiasts entitled “AKON PASALIDA” on Sept 9, 2016, 3-6pm at KBOX Art Gallery Cafe spearheaded by local film maker Gianfranco Morciano.

The purpose of this workshop is not just to impart knowledge on each participant but to let them showcase their creativeness in making ingenious films from our talented local artists. “We want to look forward to other ideas because probably my concepts in film making are different from others. There might be other young aspiring film makers out there who have a better script stories that needed to showcase.” Morciano stated.

The workshop was divided into two parts. The first part was more on theories, learning how to shoot and “the how” to make a film script. Morciano also tackled about the dos and don’ts in making a short film. At the end of the workshop, they were divided into groups and conceptualized a story they will make.

The second part will be an application about what the participants have learned from the first part of the workshop. They will be given at least 2 weeks to create their own original short film with a maximum of 15 minutes and a minimum of 5 minutes. Later, all of these films will be showcase in a film showing on September 24 and each group will give critiques to the other groups work. .

The workshop gave hope to these aspiring local film enthusiasts to stir up film making here in Eastern Visayas. They were all excited about upcoming activities in film making, where it will inspire more upcoming new breed of artists to pursue their passion in film making. And it might be a way to generate a growing group of film makers here in Tacloban.

Kbox once closed their doors due to the devastation of typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) but they never lose hope and didn’t give up on continuing their desire to motivate local artists in showing their talents in arts and music. It even added fuel to their desire to revitalize Kbox making it better, fresher and vibrant.
